A Master of Chi?

Fri ,10/07/2009

That’s right and he can start a fire with it! John Chang has been practicing a secret form of meditation for years. He claims we each posses the ability to absorb chi, store it, and use it.

On the origin, concept, and meaning behind tithing

Wed ,08/07/2009

While one does not have to be of a certain denomination to give of ones substance today I would like to look at the mainly christian concept of tithing. Some would lead you to belief tithing has been a requirement from the time of the fall of man. While the bible does say Adam offered burnt offerings to god in thanks at no time does it say Adam was given the command of tithing. Cain and Abel were taught to give an offering of blood (in similitude of the sacrifice of blood that Christ would make) and not one of their own industry. Genesis 4 Some would say this is why Cains sacrifice was not accepted.

So if the law of tithing was not established from the beginning where does it originate?

The first mention of tithing is made at the time of Abram.

Gen 14:17-20:at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley), after his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him. Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all.”

Is the tithe of all in reference truly a tithe of all Abram possessed? Not if taken in context; consider the previous verse. (more…)

Do organized religions lead to social divisions?

Thu ,02/07/2009

I believe that a specific belief system or collection of ideas does not typically cause a division in society unless the belief system includes the idea that any idea, contrary to the belief, has eternal consequences. This key ingredient is conducive to division even if the belief system claims as a major tenet the idea of unconditional love and acceptance. I believe fear and pride to be the primary causes of division among believers and non believers.

Could telepathy exist?

Wed ,01/07/2009

A technology used exclusively by doctors to monitor brain waves is being used to create more and more devices that enable the wearer to interact with reality strictly through brain waves or thought. This leads me to ask if mankind can make devices that pick up and respond to brain waves has mankind ever possessed the innate ability to pick up on these transmitted brain waves? I suppose such an ability would be called telepathy. (more…)

Reality and Truth

Tue ,30/06/2009

I would like to establish my intention in writing this blog.  I suppose in a way this will be mostly for my benefit as I attempt to asymilate the beliefs and discoveries of today and  develop a perspective all my own. There are so many questions and while I may not be able to come to a definitive conclusion on most of them I believe there to be value in the questions themselves. I know that by merely asking some questions I may offend but in the pursuit of truth there is no rock unworthy of investigation. I know I am not perfect and this medium will allow for the input from others and hopefully result in meaningful insight for others or at least myself. (more…)
